Monday, May 31st, 2021—Memorial Day honors those who made the ultimate sacrifice serving in the country's armed forces. There will be no school on Monday, May 31^st in observance of Memorial Day. Tuesday, May 4th, 2021—Words simply cannot express how thankful, grateful and our appreciation for the Syracuse Academy of Science and Citizenship Charter School teachers. This past year, you have all gone above and beyond the call of duty, have risen to the occasion and demonstrated perseverance and resilience so that you can meet the needs of the Atoms! This year has been challenging on many, and some how, and in some way you have overcome many obstacles and hurdles that were in your path, and have done so with positivity and kindness. We thank you for your continued flexibility, creativity and dedication. Many Atoms, one family. We hope you all have a wonderful Teacher Appreciation Day, and great remainder of the school year.

Monday, May 3rd, 2021—Syracuse Academy of Science and Citizenship announced it will be extending its Diaper Drive event that benefits the CNY Diaper Bank. Due to an overwhelming amount of support not only from the Atoms, teachers, faculty and staff but the community as well this event will continue for another two weeks. The Diaper Drive officially ends on Friday, May 14^th.

• Who does it benefit: The CNY Diaper Bank - a nonprofit organization that was created to assist social service organizations in the Syracuse area distribute diapers to families in need.
• What diapers are acceptable: Diapers of all sizes, brands, new and opened boxes of diapers are welcomed and greatly appreciated. However, CNY Diaper Bank has mentioned a need for size 5 and 6 diapers. Please see below for specific drop-off information.
• How can I drop off diapers: 
  • Remote Learning Students: Donations can be dropped off Monday, Tuesday Thursday or Friday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM (NOON). 
  • Hybrid Learning Students: Donations can be dropped off when attending school.

Wednesday, April 28th, 2021—It’s the last week to donate to Syracuse Academy of Science and Citizenship’s Diaper Drive event that benefits the CNY Diaper Bank. Teachers, Mrs. Merritt and Ms. Mays share a fun ‘PSA’ reminding Atoms about the Diaper Drive event as well as how they can have an opportunity to pie their teacher in the face.

Thursday, April 22nd, 2021—Happy Earth Day, Atoms! Did you know today marks the 50th celebration of Earth Day and this year's theme is 'Restore our Earth.' Below are some fun facts about Earth Day.

• Around 1 billion people take part in Earth Day activities around the world every year.
• April 22 was chosen as the date for Earth Day because it fell between Spring Break and final exams, and organizers wanted to maximize student involvement.
• Gaylord Nelson, a senator from Wisconsin, founded Earth Day in 1970 to raise public consciousness about environmental concerns such as pollution, oil spills and vanishing wildlife.
• Twenty million Americans, or about 10 percent of the country’s population at the time, took part in events and demonstrations on the first Earth Day.
