Now That’s What We Call Persuasive Writing!

Syracuse Academy of Science and Citizenship elementary school students in 2A practice their persuasive writing skills by writing compelling letters to various people while keeping certain goals in mind.

Monday, February 7th, 2022The Syracuse Academy of Science and Citizenship elementary school students in 2A have worked hard on their persuasive letter writing and are here to share a few tidbits of information.

The keys to success when writing a persuasive letter must include the following elements. First, a strong topic followed by three reasons to convince someone of something you want them to do.

Keeping this in mind, the students quickly teamed up to prepare a persuasive letter. Students were tasked with choosing one of the following people and writing a compelling letter keeping their specific goal in mind. These people include:

  • The tooth fairy: asking for more money
  • Their teacher: asking for no more homework
  • The President: asking to go to the moon or visit our class
  • The Principal: asking to be 'Principal for the Day.'
  • Their Parents: asking for a pet

It's hard to say no to these smiling students and their impeccable persuasive writing skills.
