CSAS ES Atoms Kick-Off School Choice Week

Citizenship & Science Academy of Syracuse Elementary Scholars Celebrate I Love My School Day

Monday, January 22nd, 2024: What better way to start a National celebration than with a theme day? Citizenship & Science Academy of Syracuse Elementary scholars proudly wore their uniforms and celebrated National School Choice Week! What is school choice? School choice allows every family to choose the K-12 educational options that best fit their children. Each child is unique, and their education should be too. Educational options include traditional public schools to public charter schools, public magnet schools, private schools, online academies, and homeschooling.

We love seeing the scholars' smiling faces and watching them form special bonds with their friends.

CSAS 6th Graders Use Research Skills to Create Loteria Cards

Citizenship & Science Academy of Syracuse 6th Graders Conduct Research Project in ELA Class

Tuesday, January 23rd, 2024: During lesson 14 of "Summer of The Mariposas" novel unit, in Mrs. Krahl's ELA class, Atoms created Loteria cards of a character of their choice. They worked in pairs and groups to recreate these life-like playing cards from the novel. Scholars’ playing cards needed research from online sources and their books. They also needed to make their card realistic, including two facts and what each character symbolizes.

This was an excellent hands-on activity for students to practice their research skills. Great job, 6th graders!
